The Ghajnsielem Redcoats are almost half way through their Youths’ Summer Training Program. The contribution of US coach Steve Sexton has made all the difference as the girls and boys attending these sessions are showing remarkable improvement. During this week, US college softball pitcher from Chicago, Kayla Hurd, assisted the Redcoats’ coaching staff by providing specialised training to the Redcoats softball pitchers. Thanks to Kayla the preparation of the pitching staff of the Redcoats for the upcoming season is ahead of schedule.
Today’s youths practice session was further boosted by the contribution of Steve Ellis who helped out with the coaching. Steve worked with the infielders. Steve Sexton assisted by Loreto Scicluna continued to work on improving the batting mechanics of the young Redcoats. Josef Cutajar worked with the outfielders.
This was also Kayla’s last session with the Redcoats as she will be flying out of Malta on Friday. Kayla continued to work with the pitchers trying to pass on as much knowledge as she could to our girls. The Redcoats, especially those making up the softball pitching staff, will miss Kayla, as we all got fond of her. We would like to wish her a safe journey back to Chicago and all the best in her future endeavours. Thank you Kayla for giving us your time and for becoming part of the Redcoats’ family. May we meet again soon.
