The Mellieha Baseball and Softball Club this November celebrated 30 years since they were established in 1983 by Ray Bartolo. The club has since grown to achieve remarkable accomplishments, the most significant of which was to produce outstanding baseball players who were good enough to play in foreign leagues.
We would like to congratulate Ray Bartolo and his sons for the way they run the club and for their relentless efforts to promote the sport in Malta.
In order to commemorate their 30th anniversary the Mellieha Baseball & Softball Club presented a commemorative plaque to those who made important contributions to the sport in Malta including members of the Malta Baseball & Softball Association as well as key figures of other clubs who provided worthy opposition over the years.
Although only in our second year in existence, the Mellieha club also wanted to honour the Ghajnsielem Redcoats and founder Joseph Scicluna for reviving the sport in Gozo. A commemorative plaque was presented to Joseph Scicluna by founder Ray Bartolo prior to the Softball Championship Series doubleheader played by the Redcoats against the Curves at the Mellieha Ground on Sunday, December 15, 2013.
We would like to congratulate Ray Bartolo and his three sons, Keith, Michael and Nicky for the way they run the club and for their relentless efforts to promote the sport in Malta.
