The two youth baseball minor league teams of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats travelled to Marsa earlier today to play a tripleheader each and our teams did relatively well both winning two out of three games. This proved to be a wonderful experience for both sets of players especially for the members of Redcoats Baseball many of whom started to play this game last December.
With two games going on at the same time at the Marsa Sports Grounds this represented a new challenge for the Redcoats as coaches and equipment had to be split between the two teams. Considering the outcome of the six games played this can be deemed to have been a success.
Redcoats Baseball beat Stella Maris College 5-3, and Verdala International College 4-2 but lost to the Grand Slammers 5-10. Similarly Ghajnsielem Redcoats lost their first game against the Grand Slammers 1-8 and then went on to beat both Stella Maris College and Verdala International College 11-3 and 12-3 respectively.
The players thoroughly enjoyed these three games and there was a noticeable improvement in performance from one game to the next for both teams. Our two team will now play each other on Monday, March 31st at the Sannat Ground. Then on Easter Saturday, April 19 they will both play doubleheaders again at the Sannat Ground against Stella Maris College and the Grand Slammers. These set of games will bring to an end the minor league for our teams.
