The participants showed improvement in their fundamental skills of each sport during the course of the season and familiarised themselves with the rules

As a continuation for the highly successful ACTIVE START -YOUNG MULTISPORT ATHLETE programme intended for children 4 to 6 years old, the Ghajnsielem Redcoats launched the FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS ACADEMY for children 7 to 11 years old in 2015. Whereas the former programme covers several sports during the season, the latter focuses on a few sports and aims to familiarise the participants with each sport so that they would be able to play it. 

The programme reached a very good level last season which was sustained during the current season. Coaches Mark Xerri and Maria Angela Caruana managed to keep the participants engaged throughout the entire season covering volleyball, basketball and football. The sessions, which were held at the playground of the Ghajnsielem Primary School, were 90min long with the first 45min dedicated to one sport and the final 45min dedicated to another sport. The 16 participants showed improvement in their fundamental skills of each sports during the course of the season and familiarised themselves with the rules.

On Thursday, June 6, the final session was held for the 2018/19 season. At the end of the session Mark Xerri presented the certificate of participation to those in attendance.

The programme will restart in October.
