Despite facing such a strong opposition, with technically gifted players, the Redcoats did fairly well
The Ghajnsielem Redcoats hosted Starlites Basketball as part of the events of the Gozo Sports Festival organised by the Gozo Sports Board in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo and SportMalta. The U10 and U12 boys and girls teams of the two clubs played several games at the Gozo Sports Complex on Sunday, April 9.
Starlites Basketball travelled to Gozo with a very strong squad made up of 32 boys and girls, which shows the strength in depth of this basketball club which is dominating at most youth and senior levels in the competitions organised by the Malta Basketball Association. Right from the first game the quality of the players of the visitors was evident. However, despite facing such a strong opposition, with technically gifted players, the Redcoats did fairly well.
Such basketball festivals will help the Redcoats gain the much needed experience that is necessary to help them develop individually as players and as a team. It will also motivate them to work harder during practice to improve their fundamental skills. There are at least three other such basketball festivals planned before the end of the season one of which will probably be in Malta. let’s hope that the Redcoats will continue to improve and build on the positive showing against one of the best basketball clubs in Malta.
