The spirits of the Redcoats before the tournament placing final were up. There was a sense of belief that maybe lady luck would be on their side for a change.
Clarissa Camilleri started the game really well, however a walk ended up scoring. In the 2nd inning a couple of errors resulted in another four runs scoring.
Lara Buttigieg managed to get on base and score a run in the bottom of the 2nd. More fielding errors in the next couple of innings and the hosts were up 3-9 going into the final inning. Shaniya Spiteri and Clarissa Camilleri scored the two runs for the Redcoats.
There was no further scoring for a 3-9 final result.
It was not meant to be for the Redcoats. The pitching was up to the level of that of the opponents but the rest was not. Lack of experience playing at this level and the introduction of players who recently started playing the sport were the main reasons why the Redcoats lost all of the six games they played. The lack of players on the bench ready to go in and contribute was also not ideal either.
