REDCOATS MAKE HISTORY
On Friday, July 7, the Ghajnsielem Redcoats became the first club from Malta to participate in an U12 international baseball tournament when they faced Novi Sad from Serbia in the first game of the XXVI Memorial Federico Zuttion Youth Baseball Tournament in Castions Delle Mura, Italy. This was also the first ever participation of a club from Gozo in a baseball tournament.
The game started well for the Redcoats as they scored 6 runs in the first 2 innings. However, the inexperience of the players in such international games made it difficult for them to overcome their jitters and to perform at their best. The game finished 6-16 for the team from Serbia.
Later on in the day there was the Opening Ceremony where for the first time ever in the history of this competition the Maltese National Anthem was played in honour of the Redcoats.
